A Whitespark Local Rank Tracker alternative for grid tracking
Whitespark sells two rank trackers. Local Ranking Grids is its geo-grid tool, sold as credit packs from $10 a month for 2,000 credits, one credit per grid point, and unused credits expire after each billing period. The Local Rank Tracker is a keyword tracker without a grid, priced by location keyword from $14 to $200 a month. Gridrank is an alternative for grid tracking. You pay per tracked keyword, each one is scanned every week, and there are no credits to expire.
Two Whitespark products, two pricing models
The Local Rank Tracker checks keyword rankings in Google and Bing local packs, Maps and organic results, on desktop and mobile, up to 100 results deep. You pick the search location by geo-coordinates, zip or postal code, or the city centre. It is priced by location keyword: one keyword checked in one city. Whitespark's example is a plumber with 3 locations and 10 keywords, who needs 30 location keywords.
Local Ranking Grids runs the same Google search from many points and maps the rank at each, from 4 to 225 points (2×2 to 15×15). Whitespark calls it "the perfect companion to the Local Rank Tracker". This is the product Gridrank competes with.

Every plan lists unlimited domains and locations, and Whitespark offers a 14-day free trial. Annual prices are per month, billed once a year.

One keyword scanned weekly on a 7×7 grid uses about 212 credits a month (49 points × 52 weeks ÷ 12). The last column is our arithmetic. The top pack is listed as $200+ for 65,000+ credits.
A 5×5 grid costs 25 credits per scan. Whitespark offers 200 trial credits with no card, and its paid plans include free migrations.
Credits that expire vs keywords that don't
Whitespark says "Unused credits expire after each billing period." A quiet month leaves credits unused, and a busy one needs a bigger pack. Credits can go on any business, keyword or grid size, so they suit one-off audits and prospect scans.
Gridrank counts tracked keywords instead. Starter is $19 a month for 30 keywords on grids up to 7×7. Pro is $79 for 100 and Agency is $199 for 300, both on grids up to 9×9. Every keyword is scanned each week, and on-demand scans come on top. Paid plans are not open yet, so the pricing page takes waitlist sign-ups.
Per weekly keyword the two come out close. Whitespark's $50 pack covers 70 weekly 7×7 keywords, about $0.71 each. Gridrank Starter is about $0.63 per keyword at 7×7, and Agency about $0.66 per keyword at 9×9. Whitespark's $200 pack covers 306 weekly 7×7 keywords.
White-label reports
Whitespark lists "live, white-label, shareable URLs" for grids, and Local Rank Tracker report links can be password protected and put on a custom domain. Its pages don't say which plans include them. Where Whitespark is ahead
- Bigger grids, up to 225 points (15×15). Gridrank stops at 9×9.
- Rank depth to 100 positions at every point. Gridrank records the top 20.
- Daily, weekly or monthly schedules. Gridrank scans tracked keywords weekly.
- A keyword tracker for Bing and organic results next to the grids. Gridrank tracks Google Maps only.
- Versus mode for two grids side by side, an API and MCP support.
- A lower entry price, $10 a month, and credits you can spend on any grid.
Where Gridrank fits better
- You track the same keywords every week and want the same bill every month, with nothing expiring.
- You want an email when a tracked keyword moves.
- You want failed scans to cost nothing. A scan that fails on our side or the data provider's doesn't count against your allowance.
- You want to try a grid before making any account. The free rank checker needs no sign-up.
Moving over
Gridrank can't import Whitespark history. Add each business by name, pick the same keywords, and match the grid size and spacing you used on Whitespark, so the first weeks compare fairly.
