Why one ranking number isn't enough

Google ranks Maps results by relevance, prominence and distance from the person searching. A plumber can be #1 for someone a few streets away and #14 for someone across town. Checking from your own phone only tells you the first part.

A geo-grid scan runs the same search from evenly spaced points around the business and records your position at each one. The result is a heatmap: green where you're in the top 3, amber in the top 10, red beyond that.
